Meet Pastor Callen
Husband, shepherd, and faithful preacher of God’s Word
Pastor Callen and his wife, Michelle, were born and raised in Fairfield, Iowa, graduating from Fairfield High School and Faith Christian Academy respectively. A year later, Pastor and Michelle were married, and Pastor Callen completed a degree in Computer Science, going on to work for Scantron Service Group.
While both had grown up in church, it was while living and working in Omaha, Nebraska, that they began attending the Marshall Road Baptist Church. Here, they both quickly found the Bible teaching and preaching that they were looking for, and they continued to attend other Baptist churches when they were transferred to the Detroit, Michigan, area.
His Heart for Ministry
It was under the preaching of Pastor Earl Jones at the Taylor Center Baptist Church that the final surrender to full-time service was made. Pastor Callen began serving as the Youth Director at the Fair Haven Baptist Church in Westland, Michigan, shortly thereafter. Over the years, Pastor McDonald, Senior Pastor at Fair Haven, has helped many men enter into the ministry who today serve as missionaries, youth directors, and pastors around the world.
It was while serving at Fair Haven that Pastor Callen was able to receive additional training through the Atlantic Baptist Bible College. After five and a half years at Fair Haven, Pastor Callen was ordained and was called by Community Baptist Church to be their Pastor.
A Heart Shared in Ministry
As must be the case, there is no doubt that a pastor’s wife must share in his calling. There is no question that this is the case with Michelle. She has a heart for the children’s ministries, women’s ministries, as well as the nursing home ministry. She drives the church van on Sunday morning and Wednesday night, organizes and arranges activities not only for the women but for all the members of the church, and leads the nursing home ministry each week. To all who know her, there is no doubt that her heart is with her husband’s, in this work.
